Natural Homeopathic Virus Treatment

My Fight with Viral Infections
Natural Medicine Helped Me
David M.
Every year I would get sick with some kind of a virus. It would hit me strong and I would be down for three days in the November to December time period.  I think my body may have picked up viruses throughout the year but never became weakened as a true sickness until that time, once per year.  That may sound odd but that is how I believe I felt.
One day I was driving home and upon my arrival I broke out in a heavy sweat and was in a weakened condition. I dragged myself into the house and I laid down on the couch.  I thought I was in for another three day stint of illness. Because of this condition I decided to consult with Dr. Victoria Goldsten, a homeopathic doctor at the Washington Institute of Natural Medicine.  Dr Goldsten evaluated me based upon natural theories and came up with an appropriate natural treatment plan.  Upon doing so I took a homeopathic formula called viral immune system stimulator.  As Dr. Goldsten described it to me, the homeopathic was a nosode remedy that actually contained minute amounts of dead viruses that stimulate the immune system to fight off viruses.  I took the remedy right away and by the next morning I was 100% well and full of energy.
Since that time 18 years ago I have never relapsed into that same condition again.  In fact I have only  had two to three colds since then and when they came on I immediately took the viral immune remedy to fight it.  Even when I would be exposed to someone that was coughing, sneezing, or had a runny nose I would take a small dose to prevent a cold from coming on.  It really worked.
I had never been a believer in natural medicine and did not know much about it but now I am a true believer.
After my positive experience with natural medicine I became more familiar with Dr. Goldsten’s practice and methods.  I found out that when she started in the health profession she first was educated as a nurse and then studied many natural health methods after that.  I think her background in conventional medicine causes her to be a natural practitioner that is aware of both methods in health care; therefore, she sees health care in a realistic manner.  She is not against conventional medicine but augments its care.
If you are interested in Dr. Goldsten’s care she has an institute in Washington, D.C. with numerous other natural health care practitioners such as: massage therapists, colon hydrotherapists, energy workers, acupuncturists, reflexologists and much more.  They are a fantastic group of people.
The Washington Institute of Natural Medicine is located at 5101 Wisconsin Ave., N.W., Washington, D.C. 20016.  They can be reached at (202) 686-8202 and seen on their web site at: http://www.naturalhealthdc.com/.  It is definitely worth your time to check out their facility.  Each and every practitioner has a great gift to offer.
Best wishes in you search for health care.  Good health to you.

Natural Arthritis Treatment

My Fight with Arthritis
Natural Medicine Helped Me
David M.
I was in my 60’s and was getting more and more pain in the knuckles of my hands.  I eventually went to see a doctor at an arthritis and rheumatism medical facility.  They showed me that I had osteoarthritis and then prescribed Celebrex.  This worked fine almost immediately but within a short span of a few months the length of help from the pills became less and less.
I went to see Dr. Victoria Goldsten, an integrative homeopath, at the Washington Institute of Natural Medicine to see about a natural remedy because of the lack of time support of the Celebrex and because of the rumors that I had heard concerning its side effects.
Dr. Goldsten gave me an herbal combination formula called joint support.  I took it conjointly with the Celebrex for one month.  The joint support in the morning and the Celebrex at bedtime.  Dr. Goldsten told me not to take them at the same time.
After that time period I dropped the Celebrex all together and have had less pain to endure and have needed less quantity of the joint support formula. The joint support formula has vitamins and herbs in it such as zinc and sea cucumber.  It is a fantastic formula and I plan to continue using it.

Natural Treatment for Stress

Natural Treatment for Stress
Dr. Victoria Goldsten, HD
Natural Health Care Nurse
Integrative Homeopathic Doctor
As I studied psychiatric nursing and gained experience at a psychiatric facility and psychiatric wards in hospitals I became comfortable with the counseling aspect of nursing.  I also worked on an adolescent ward seeing how they showed the rebellious nature.  Even as I worked on a prison ward with children and teens I began to see a re-occurrence of deep seeded needs, needs for nurturing and praise.  So many were seemingly raised, as children, in a negative environment.
Now today I see numerous clients with stress and I see how their past has affected their current life situation.  The past negative experiences, their current home and life stresses create an ever mounting list of complaints such as anxiety, stress, panic, phobias, and depression.
With the advent of conventional drugs many have turned to that form of treatment but still find themselves wanting for more.
Many times clients seek out our office for natural treatment of their previously diagnosed physical complaints. In those lists of complaints they frequently include stress.  These complaints of which could be a result of the looming stress.
After completing a natural health care assessment and consultation we recommend remedies and therapies based upon the results of the visit.  These therapies complement the client’s conventional medical care.  Even when a client informs us they do not want to see a medical doctor we strongly suggest they seek them out for diagnosis and appropriate conventional medical testing.
As a result of our natural health care assessment and the needs and request of the client homeopathics, herbals, aromatherapy, hypnosis, chakra balancing, guided imagery, transformational bodywork, reiki, or massage can be recommended. The appropriate selection of care is based upon the evaluating practitioner’s review and the methods that are most acceptable by the client.  Not all of the methods are needed.  Many times a client will have positive results with just one or two methods. Upon beginning the therapies the client can have profound effects of which also gives the practitioner a high level of satisfaction of a job well done.

Re-occurring Sinus Infections

Re-occurring Sinus Infections
My Miracle in a Bottle
Dr. Victoria Goldsten, HD
Natural Health Care Nurse
Integrative Homeopathic Doctor

Well over 20 years ago I was having chronic sinus infection.  Due to the infections I was taking antibiotics almost on a monthly basis.  The antibiotic would work temporarily and the infection would clear, but within a short period of time the infection would return.  After numerous re-occurrences of infection I concluded that my body was weak and could not fight bacterial infections.
Due to my conventional training as a nurse, the taking of the antibiotics made sense to me but I knew I needed to do something else.  Conventionally I knew I was doing everything I could do.  My frustration mounted as I dealt with the infections, congestion, difficulty breathing, drainage, cough, and weakness.
As a result of my frustration I decided to seek out natural health care.  I went to a practitioner that was consulting clients and recommending supplements, herbs, and homeopathic.  Due to her recommendations I began to take numerous remedies. Within that group of remedies I found what I call my miracle in a bottle, a homeopathic called a nosode.  At that time a nosode had no meaning to me, but over time I became to understand it better.  This nosode formulation, which had minute levels of dead bacteria in it, strengthened my immune system to bacteria and as a result I was able to stop taking the antibiotics.  That for me was unbelievably profound.  I felt that this type of treatment was top secret information that the average citizen did not know about and that conventional practitioners were unaware.  At that moment I knew my path had changed from a conventional nurse.  I then was driven to help others that had similar difficulties.  I sought out homeopathic education and then began to consult clients as a natural health care nurse and integrative homeopath.
These events forever changed my path in life and gave it a much stronger meaning.

The Need for Natural Health Education

The Need for Natural Health Education
Dr. Victoria Goldsten, HD
Natural Health Care Nurse
Integrative Homeopathic Doctor

As I was working as a nurse in local hospitals and clinics I found myself feeling that I needed to do more for the patients.  I wanted to spend more time with them and provide preventative care and emotional support.  The problem was I had numerous patients and ended up being a technician of sorts, administering medications and monitoring IVs.  I had little time for focused bedside care.  The type of care Florence Nightingale spoke about in her writings numerous times.

The part I enjoyed was dong the treatments such as, bandage changes, compresses, and urine tests.  That may sound strange but by doing that I had more contact with the patient and had more in-depth conversations with them.

I got out of nursing for a short period of time and worked with property management and attorneys.  All the while I saw the buildings I managed as my patients and even kept the files as I did for patients in the hospital.  It was an interesting job but I still had the feeling deep within me to help others in need.

During my days in real-estate I was faced with health issues such as chronic sinus infections, allergies, gallbladder pain, low blood sugar, fatigue and elevated liver function tests.  I knew at that time that I needed to help myself.  I sought out conventional medical care but only found that I had to repeat use of conventional drugs, drugs that just helped temporally and had a list of side effects.  These drugs also caused my liver function to rise.

Due to my dissatisfaction I decided to seek out natural health care.  Upon doing so I used homeopathics, herbs, and supplements that a practitioner recommended to me.  My heath turned around drastically.  I became stronger and reduced and eliminated the use of many of the drugs.

With all of the positive changes in my life I decided to seek out education in natural health.  All those many years ago the education was difficult to find and when I mentioned it to family and friends they though I was a bit strange with my change in perspective.  Even so I was determined to find classes.  I trained with homeopathic practitioners, homeopathic professional organizations, a hypnotherapy guild, a reiki center, a shiatsu and healing center for acupressure and many more.

Since I found and completed many classes I then started to consult clients as a natural health care nurse.  My education grew and I eventually obtained a doctorate degree in Holistic Health, Naturopathy and Integrative Homeopathy.

As I consulted clients they kept requesting that I teach the subject because they were also interested in following my path.  Due to many similar requests I decided to teach my first holistic health care class.  Over time our training programs grew and we began to teach many other natural health care methods.  We added additional teachers to assist me with lecture and clinical supervision.  We were and are still an apprenticeship model of training.  The one thing I learned from nursing was that hands on was the best way to learn.  The lecture is important but the hands-on was of most importance.

This growth through time was pivotal in my life.  I now feel I am a new breed of Florence Nightingale, walking the halls of our natural treatment facility, feeling the positive energies of all of our talented practitioners and all of their clients feeing the effects of good care.

Some of the classes I took and the classes and clinical components that we now teach at our clinic are: Acupressure, Reflexology, Holistic Health, Integrative Homeopathy, Reiki, Holistic Nutrition, and much more.

Complementary Cancer Care

Complementary Cancer Care
Dr. Victoria Goldsten, HD
Natural Health Care Nurse
Integrative Homeopathic Doctor

In 1972 I was 18 years old and in nursing school.  After I completed a portion of my lecture classes, I was then sent out on the floors of the hospital; first on the medial units, then surgical units, and lastly on the specialty units and in surgery.  During my surgical rotation I had my first experience with cancer. I assisted in a breast cancer surgery where I carried the tumor to the pathologists for a biopsy.  He did the biopsy but already knew by looking at the specimen that it was, in fact, cancer.  He had me touch the tumor to see what it felt like.  I will never forget that moment and how scary it was to see what has taken the lives of so many.

Although I never thought my goal as a practitioner was to help those with cancer, I came to realize that overtime I was to provide that care for clients with cancer for they came to me looking for help.  Now as the Director and practitioner at the Washington Institute of Natural Medicine I have realized that, through so many requests, I needed to offer care that augments conventional treatment.  As each new client came to me I did further research on homeopathics, herbals, energy work, hypnosis, colon hydrotherapy, detoxification treatments, and guided imagery.

I am not against conventional medical care but rather advise my clients to see their medical doctors.  I then do the best I can with natural methods to help them become more comfortable and live longer and happier.  Although this information is antidotal I have helped clients live beyond the expectations of the conventional doctors.  I can not make guarantees nor can I make miracles but I will do the best with my staff and the medical doctors that treat them.

In my selection of care I am careful to select treatment that will not interfere with chemo therapy and conventional medications. I select natural therapies that augment conventional therapies and assist with the side effects.

If you or a loved one wish to have complementary care added to conventional cancer treatment please feel free to contact our office.  I work side by side with experienced practitioners working with cancer patients.
