Natural Health Care Nurse
Integrative Homeopathic Doctor
Acupuncture Apprentice
I am Dr. Victoria Goldsten, a natural health care nurse, integrative homeopath, acupressure practitioner, and an acupuncture apprentice. I first became introduced to acupuncture in 1996 when I studied introduction to acupuncture at the FAES Graduate School at the National Institute of Health’s hospital.  It was fascinating to see how acupuncture points on the Chinese meridian systems treated numerous health complaints.  Along with acupuncture training I also studied acupressure at the Shiatsu and Healing Center.  These two programs gave me my start in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM).
After all of my years in nursing I now could see the connection with disease and imbalances; the imbalances that lead to disease as referenced in TCM.  How fascinating it was.  Now in all of my consultations with clients I use the TCM observations.  Upon completion of my consultation and assessment, imbalances frequently would become revealed in the liver, kidneys, or spleen meridians.  Upon this being evident, I would recommend natural homeopathics or herbs to treat the imbalances. In addition I have recommended acupuncture for these imbalances.
Along with treating imbalances acupuncture is very successful in treating numerous pain conditions. In these circumstances I work in conjunction with Dr. BK. Mdahar, a long time licensed acupuncturist at the Washington Institute of Natural Medicine.  Dr. Mudahar has a soothing, nurturing bedside manner and has helped hundreds of clients over the years with neck pain, back pain, sinus pressure, female disorders, and much more.  Dr. Mudahar is a graduate of the Maryland Institute of Traditional Chinese Medicine.  Upon her completion of her studies in acupuncture she became a respected teacher of the Maryland Institute and a practitioner at the Washington Institute.
Dr. Mudahar recently began an apprenticeship program in acupuncture at the Washington Institute were she has six acupuncture apprentices under her tutelage. The Institute offers acupuncture privately with Dr. Mudahar and at a reduced rate with her aspiring acupuncturists.  When a client requests the reduced rate acupuncture Dr. Mudahar reviews the case with the interns and teaches them point identification and the meridian theories behind the treatment plan.
If you are interested in acupuncture for your health complaints please feel free to contact the Washington Institute of Natural Medicine and we will be glad to speak to you.  I am available for a phone consultation to review your personal situation and to help you determine the best path for you in the selection of alternative medicine therapies.
